TrimTo63 - Trims items in a concordance file to a maximum of 63 characters per item | ||
Related pages - • Indexing documents with WordPerfect (manual and concordance methods) • Index Tools - Tutorials, macros, and tips to help you index a document |
TrimTo63,wcm is designed to be used with an existing
concordance file that was created by means other than (e.g.) the WordList.wcm macro. For example, items created by manually typing into a concordance, pasting items into it, etc. Instructions Open the concordance file on screen and play the macro.
The macro will examine all items in the concordance and trim any items that exceed 63 characters (including spaces) to a maximum of 63 characters/spaces, which is required by WordPerfect's indexing feature. (Items longer than 63 characters in a concordance will cause an error message if the concordance is used in WordPerfect to help index a document.) A small onscreen message will show the macro's progress. Save the trimmed concordance to disk before using it to help index the document. Cautions • All items in a concordance must be
"plain text" and not contain format codes (bold, italics, columns,
tables, etc.).
• Each item must be on a separate line, and each must end with a hard return. • Always make a backup copy of the concordance before playing this macro Tips ☼ See Indexing documents with WordPerfect for more on the methods to create and use a concordance file to help create an index.
☼ Note that the WordList.wcm macro will do all trimming during the
creation of a draft of a concordance; in that case you do NOT need TrimTo63.)
☼ Note that the macro delays processing each item by 1/10 second with a Wait(1) command so that the "Please Wait" message displays during processing. You can delete edit the macro and this command if desired. |

[An
earlier version of this macro was included with the Unique macro suite
in the Library. But this macro is recommended instead -- especially if
you are not using that suite.] |
